Hello! Welcome to Mngtalk's Blog Entry on

"Recollections of Activities for the Past 2 weekends"

I'll start off with the latest since the pictures are added according to the latest lolz

Saturday 20 Dec 2008

I was praying hard that the night's weather would turn out fine.
It would not be a great sight and experience having to embark on a night cycling trip in the rain.
Was it raining then? We shall see.. =p

Here's me fiddling with my digicam..
but oh well, I didn't use it throughout the night.. haha.
Left it to Wendy's. =D

And here we are, the 7 of us, preparing to start off on our adventure!

Starting point: SunPlaza Park @ Tampines

Here's how we had travelled:

SunPlaza Park => travel along Tampines Ave 10 towards Bedok Reservoir

=> travel along Bedok North to Siglap Park Connector => Kembangan MRT

=> East Coast Park (ECP) => stopover at Old Airport Rd food centre for supper

=> S'pore National Stadium & Stadium Waterfront

=> back to ECP (cycled along the whole stretch) => Coastal Park Connector (8km)

=> Changi Beach Park => Changi Village for breakfast

=> back to SunPlaza Park via Loyang Park Connector

All in all, we took 12 hours in total, from 9pm to 9am, including the various stopovers and meal breaks. It was definitely quite a feat!

I guess we would definitely remember how 'excruciating' the experience was, especially on the way back.. when our bottoms were already in much pain due to the prolonged sitting down on the narrow bike seat. And.. how our legs struggled to pedal and pedal on the seemingly neverending road. The most 'significant' part of the whole journey was when we were travelling along the Coastal Park Connector (which led us from ECP to Changi Beach Park). The path was really straight and the ending point couldn't be seen for most of the time. Wendy, HongTat and I were cycling together, talking crap (but mostly listening to HT's entertaining talks) so as to propel ourselves, to carry on pedaling.

Despite the 'ultimate endurance test' we had been put through, to me, the overall experience was indeed a unique and splendid one. It was definitely much better to cycle at night, with the cooling weather, quieter surroundings and less traffic. The night scene is also much pleasant. The Coastal PC along the airport runway was my favourite.=)

To end off, thank you those who had joined me for this night cycling! Especially HT.. it has been ages since we met.. =)

Sunday 14 Dec 2008

This was the day of FastCat's first outing after the semester! (my MNO4313 Project Mates)
Proudly organized by Mr Polar Doggie, the only guy (out of 2) who turned up for the day outing.

Our first stop was SEntosa, though on a drizzling morning..
THe food we had brought!

"My name is John" game..

at first, it might sound lame.. but as you play, it's actually quite interesting and ..hilarious

Hah.. juz look at our faces..

Spent the later part of the afternoon at the newly opened Marina Barrage.

A really nice place to be.. for picnicking.. for lazying around.. for family gathering.. etc

Finally, after around 7 hours of outdoor stuff, it's steamboat time!

And we had invited our 'beloved' Dr Song to grace the steamboat dinner..

(hope the results today would reflect well... lolz.. nah.. there's no link between inviting him for dinner and the results okay? hah)

Saturday 13 Dec 2008

I guess this would be my last time organising a Kalta gathering lolzz.. oopss..
Shall hand over to anyone who would like to take over the baton hah..

Anyway, it's JaSon's Birthday Gathering!
Look at the wine in his hand?
That's our bdae gift to him!
Hahah.... nah......
it's complimentary of the Hong Kong Cafe we went for our dinner.. hehe

Okay... so much so of my 2 activity-packed weekends...

kinda look forward to Xmas & New Year now.. though still no confirmed plans as yet!!! Boohoo..

Till then.. cya! And have a joyous festive season!

In less than a month,
a brand new year will be ushered in.
Quite looking forward to it.
Although the year 2008 has the digit 8 in it,
which signifies prosperity and goodness,
I'm not the least agreeing to that.

If you were to reflect back,
there seemed to be more unfortunate events that had happened,
relatively speaking.
World events, regional, local...
Bits and pieces througout the year.

For me,
I could only say it's getting tougher.
The suppressed feelings continue to be suppressed.
Really really hope things will get much better next year,
though I'm feeling kinda pessimistic over how things can transform.
But I guess, I can walk through it alone.

Just a sudden thought now,
'How I wish I can grow up faster.'
Ironic.

Hallo! Let me just give an update of some snippets of past 2 weeks of my life.

21 November 08 (Friday)

I finally met my best friend again.
We hadn't seen each other since god knows when, during the first half of this year.
And it's her birthday!
And.. finally got to spend her birthday with her on the actual day..
but... guilty as charged, I hadn't got her present ready!
I shall aim to make it perfect next year! =D

We went to try out the Shokudo Japanese Food Bazaar at Raffles City,
that Japanese restaurant which operates like the Marche.
I was quite amazed at the array of food,
though there weren't thousands of variety to choose from,
at least I had quite a few I would like to try,
unlike the original Marche, where I always had some difficulty selecting my dishes.
Well, perhaps it was my first time there,
hence, I was a little excited about what they offer there.
The food was okay in general.
The service was quite commendable,
the staff were always on the ball to clear any empty plates.
Price-wise, similar to Marche.

* din want to post any pictures here, pictures seem to always distort the alignment of my sentences (can check out my Facebook!)

22 - 26 November

Mugging time.. for my exams on the 27th & 28th..

28 November 08 (Friday)

Yippie!
At last, this arduous semester had officially ended! Kudos!
Now, I could relax in front of the tv,
without having to multi-task,
with books and notes while I watched the tv shows.
Got engrossed in the 'Little Nyonya'

29 November 08 (Saturday)

Accompanied my mum to buy groceries in the morning.
Went to CC in the afternoon,
playing my games; reading book & magazines
while someone was studying.. =p
I borrowed this book titled 'Geisha, A Life'
by an ex-geisha, Iwasaki Mineko.
It is kind of an autobiography,
depicting her own life as a geisha,
from the time when she hadn't entered the geisha house,
to the time she took up aesthetic lessons,
and then became a maiko (apprentice geisha) and finally, a full-fledged one.
The story was quite interesting.
It was easier to understand after taking the module on
"Samurai, Geisha and Yakuza as self-other".
And it's because of this module that I borrowed this book.
I personally prefer geisha to samurai.. =)

30 November 08 (Sunday)

A very lazy Sunday that I had spent.
Woke up when the sun had risen high up into the sky.
Played a little of the Treasure Hunt Game that Wendy had sent me.
Watched the repeat telecast of the Taiwan show, "Magician of Love"
Took a short nap after that (piggie me..)
Continued and finished my game after dinner.
Hah. I managed to complete all the 10+ stages in the game, in just 2 days
Hehe..

1 December 08 (Monday)

Had a mini dinner gathering with the gals
at Paste de Waraku @ The Heeren.
It was Ladies' Night and 50% off total bill! Yahoo!
I ordered the Sukiyaki with spaghetti which Wendy recommended..
It was not bad on the first taste but I thought it was rather salty thereafter.
Hah.. I kept eating Jap food nowadays,
especially that Jap restaurants seem to have mushroomed to a very large extent this year.
Okay.. I shall 'abstain' from Jap food for the time being hoho

Managed to reach home by 11pm to catch the Amazing Race.
The last leg before the finale!
I was so sad that the mother-son team got eliminated.
They were quite suay in a sense.. lost their passports and money..
And.. the frat boys were in the top 3??!!??
Dotzz

Okie.. so much for the account of my past 2 weeks...
I shall end this with a happy news!
Read my nus email when I came online after watching tv..
and saw the feedback and grade for the project for one of my module,
that one module which frustrated me and practically the whole of my classmates,
that one module which caused my group to stay back every Friday during the sem until late at night; and came back almost every weekend;

I just got to say, "Well done, FatCat!"
Our efforts and time had truly paid off!
Looking forward to our gathering in 1 1/2 weeks' time. =D
You should look at the itinerary drafted out by one of my project mates..
Hahaa..

Okie..
for now,
planning for ktv session, night cycling,
more games and shows for the next few weeks of holidays.
Yay!
