~ Cherish & Memories ~

Was reading a friend's blog entry entitled "Always Cherish What You've Got" (smile if you know whose blog I'm referring to hee)
when some thoughts came to me.

This sentence,
many of us have come across it countless of times.
It seems to always emerge somewhere, always linger in someone's words.
We heard it, we say it,
but how many of us really do it?
How do we show that we cherish?
By being nice to the person, by reciprocating?
By saying sincere words of gratitude?
By our consistent actions of good will?
Uncertain right?
But one thing that's certain to me is that
more often, we only realise the true meaning of "cherish"
when at that moment in time, we truly felt loved by those around us,
or when we acknowledge the goodness that others shower upon us unconditionally.
or in a more negative case,
we learn to cherish when we lose something.
I feel that we see the importance of "cherish"
in times when we reflect on our present as well as our past.

This brings me to the topic on "Memories".
Recently, I was thinking back into the past and looking at my present.
Surprising to me, it seems that it has unknowingly become quite challenging for me to recollect certain parts of my memories.
It was as though those memories are no longer at the top of my mind,
as though they have hidden quietly in a deep corner of my brain.
I tried to recall but I guess they have become relatively distant now.
Perhaps new memories have taken the leap over the old ones,
or maybe I have subconsciously chosen not to let the past memories surface.
Well, I guess the first possibility might take precedence.
Our human brain has limited information storage capability, so to speak. =)

Nonetheless, it soothes me now to know that at least the new memories have embedded themselves in me. They have proven to have changed the direction in my life and have brought in new light, shining brightly at me, letting me know that I feel treasured and I should in turn treasure the present. =)
